Inanna

Today, I complete my sequence of posts dealing with releasing your inner goddess through the use of makeup. :) Today, I will focus on the Sumerian goddess, Inanna. She is a mother goddess of love, fertility and lust and she is also called the "Queen of Heaven". I could not find out too much about her, but to me, she seems to embody the gentility and ethereal calm nature of women. (Totally opposite from yesterday's goddess.) Shall we get to it? :)

After I prepped my face, I got out the Mac 22-color shadow palette and put the shimmery champagne color all over my lids. Then, I put the shimmery pearly rose color in the creases, shimmery light brown on the outer corners and shimmery gold on the inner corners. I put shimmery white on the browbone and lined the eyes thickly with black liquid liner and put on mascara. (Forgive my eyebrows. I will finally be waxing them tomorrow! :D) Then, I put Shisheido gradient pink shimmery blush on the cheeks and a shimmery pink gloss from Claire's on the lips.

And that will complete our sequence of goddesses to emulate through the use of makeup! :D

Kali

Welcome to the continuation of releasing your inner goddess through the use of makeup! Today's inspiration is the Hindu goddess, Kali. Kali embodies the destructive and violent force. (A force that we females are all familiar with during certain times of the month. xD) I'm sorry the makeup is kinda half-assed, but I ran out of the blue stuff. :/ Alas, I did my very best and I hope you enjoy it, anyways. :) Shall get to the destruction, then? >:)

The first thing I did was use black liquid liner to draw the outlines of the skulls on my chest. Obviously, it helps if you have a necklace of skulls, but I don't have one of those and I don't know where to find one. ;p Then, I used Mehron blue face paint all over my face, neck and decolletage. I filled in the skulls with Mehron's white paint and use Mehron's red paint for the bindhi on the forehead. Then, I got some black powder liner and drew the teeth, eyeholes and nose hole for the skulls. Then, I lined my brows thickly with the powder liner and lined the eyes with black liquid liner. I finished off with Rimmer London lipstick in "Alarm".

Kali is one craaaaaazy Motha...Goddess. ;)

Demeter

To make up for the half-assedness of yesterday's makeup, I did a more elaborate look today! :D Today's goddess is Demeter, the Greek goddess of the harvest. She represents the nurturing, motherly side of women and our connection with nature. Shall we grow our own look? ;)

After prepping my face, I took out the Pro Palette and put some light green on the lids up to the creases. Then, I put some matte medium green in the creases and matte dark green on the outer corners. I finished the eyes with some Maybelline Lash Stiletto in "Very Black". With the liquid liner that lost its pigment, I drew vines or roots going down the cheeks and patted some matte medium green over them. I finished them by gluing on some sparkling dark and light green gems. I finished the look with Manic Panic lipstick in "Venom". :)

This looks...like a very familiar mythology. >_>

Hecate

Today's look was kinda half-assed and simple. :p All I did was put on some of Manic Panic's "Raven" lipstick and left it at that. (I have only a few minutes to post this!) Hecate is a "crone" goddess. She is more about wisdom and mysticism than any of the other goddesses. She dares to explore the dark side of life, which is something most women probably should learn to do. ;)

Diana

Today is the third day on releasing your inner goddess through the use of makeup. :D While being powerful and sexy (or powerfully sexy xD) is something that comes to mind whenever we think of being like a goddess, one thing we forget is that maidenly innocence and purity are often overlooked, but wonderful qualities. And Diana is just the goddess to teach us to embrace our inner maiden. :) (Given that sometimes, she is depicted in not so maidenly nakedness.) Diana is the Roman goddess of the moon, the hunt and maidenly innocence in general. :)

After I prepped my face, I dusted Revlon Diamond Lust all over the lids in "Pillow Talk" and put on some mascara. The rosy cheeks were acheived by using Shisheido gradient pink blush and Mary Kay's "Simply Pink" was slicked onto the lips. The look is mostly natural, pure and rosy.

For the hair, I simply pulled it into a side ponytail in its natural state and pinned a white rose into it. :)

Actaeon better not dare to suprise me! ;)

Astarte

Today, I continue the series on how to unleash your inner goddess through the use of makeup. ;) Today's inspiration was Astarte, a goddess from the Semitic Pagan tradition. You may know her through reading the Bible and how the Old Testament tells its readers to not make statues in Her honor. Well, in my religion, we do make statues in her honor. ;) Astarte is the goddess of fertility, war and love. Most of her makeup is that shimmering mineral/dark kohl around the eyes combination. And here I am to gild your path for you. ;)

After prepping my skin, I used Revlon ColorStay Mineral Bronzer in "Golden Bronze" and put it all over my face for a tanned look. (I suppose a Sumerian goddess would be tanned. ;p) Then, I put on "Honeymoon" (a gold shadow) from the Too-Faced Romantic Eye palette all around the eye. On the lids, on the creases, on the browbone, under the lashes, everywhere that covers the general eye area. ;P With e.l.f black liquid liner, I lined the entire eye and did the little "fishtail" flick at the edges. I finished off the eyes with Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara in "Very Black".

For the eyebrows, I needed to make them extra dark, so I got a matte black shadow from the Pro Palette and lined the brows with it. For Astarte's gilded lips, I just used a classic secret that some makeup artists use when they don't have a lipstick or lipgloss of that color. I patted on plenty of the "Honeymoon" shadow on the lips and slicked over Rimmel Sweet Jelly gloss (a clear gloss) in "Gourmet". For Astarte's fabulous hair, just pull back two sections of your hair in the front and push it up from behind to make something that looks like her horned headdress. (Can't really see it here. ;/) Then, just adorn it with something gold or ancient-looking. ;)

This was the best goddess picture I could do. :p I got it down to PG-13 even tho Astarte's pictures are always, well...NC-17. xD

Isis

Today's look was fairly simple and fun to do. :) Inspired by the mystical Egyptian mother goddess, I honor her in all her glory and her amazing eyeliner. ;) There's a whole lot of lore I could insert about Isis here, but I just don't have a whole lotta time right now. So, I give you just the look, since you probably know most of it, anyways. :)

After prepping my skin, I used e.l.f black liquid liner all around the eyes and made a line that extended to the edge of the brow. Then, I lined the brows with black shadow and made a flick at their ends. Simple as that!

Walk like an Egyptian...
Sorry, I couldn't resist. :3

Mabon

Merry Meet, everyone! And a Merry Mabon, too! I know it's tomorrow, but I have a writer's conference to go to tomorrow, so I have to do this look today. :) For anyone who is unfamiliar with what Mabon is, in my religion, it's the first day of Autumn. We Pagans are Earth-loving people, so we like to celebrate the changes in the seasons. :) So, I did a somewhat festive look. I guess the makeup isn't all that impressive, but that's because no one is really ever impressed with muted colors. :/ But, I liked doing this one and I think it turned out pretty enough. ;) Shall we take a look?

After I prepped my skin, I put on a shimmery transluscent powder for a radiant look all over my face. I defined the cheekbones with Nars blush in "Orgasm". Then, I drew swirls (like wind) on the sides of my face with the liner that lost its pigment and colored over them with orange, red, yellow and brown shadows from the Pro Palette to give it a colored aura. Then, I stuck jewels in shades of orange and yellow onto the ends of the swirls from a nail kit that I have. (I don't really use it for nails. I use the jewels for my face.)

Then, I spread a shimmery goldenrod shadow all over my lids. I got the shimmery tangerine shade and put it in the outer corners. Then, I put a tiny bit of matte red under the lash lines. Then, shimmery mocha above the orange on the outer corners and shimmery bronze on the inner corners. I finished the eyes with some black liquid liner and mascara. I finished the look off with Maybelline lipstick in "Berry Slick" and layered some shimmery peachy-orange gloss over it. :)

For the hair, I just left it natural and stuck some autumn decorations in with bobby pins. :)
And that is how you look like a Mabon goddess. ;)

Blessed Be! ~

Professional Autumn Day Look

It seems scary to behold, but the autumn days are fastly approaching! The leaves may not fall and the days may not be that cold come this Friday, but according to the calenders, it will be the Fall Equinox and the globe will tilt whether the weather changes or not. :p And since Autumn is the time that most people try to work at their peak or go back to school, I figured that a professional look was in order. :) One thing to remember about an autumn look is to use warm colors, earth tones and berry-toned makeup.

After prepping my face, I got out the Pro Palette and sweeped shimmery dark mocha all over the lids. Then, I put on the shimmery eggplant color on the outer corners. I got the brown brow liner and put a little bit under the lower lashes. I finished off the eyes with black mascara.

I finished off the look by defining my cheekbones with Nars blush in "Orgasm" and Maybelline lipstick in "Berry Slick". ;)

Peacock

Are you all ready for another late night post? ;) Well, I've decided to base today's look on the beautiful and exotic peacock feathers. The colors and the shimmer are just amazing, that it would be a crime NOT to do an eye makeup look inspired by it! These colors are also extremely flattering on brown eyes. ;)

After prepping my skin, I used e.l.f black liquid liner to make the little pupil shapes in the center of the feathers. I made them a little bit off to the side of my lids. I colored them over a bit with some matte dark blue shadow from the Pro Palette. Then, I spread some shimmery royal blue around the spots.

I got some shimmery bronze and put it around the blue. Then, with a combination of shimmery light green and shimmery bluish light green, I did the rest of the lids. I went over them with the liquid liner to make a jagged feathered edge and went over the liner with more green shadow. I finished with mascara and pinky peach lipgloss. ;)

Monarch Butterfly

Hey all. Sorry today's makeup is not so great, but I'm going through a tough transition in my life. But, nonetheless, I decided to offer you a look with another colorful creature as my insipration. :)

Today is all about the beautiful and colorful monarch butterfly. :)

After I prepped my skin, I used black liquid liner to draw wings with lines in them on the sides of my eyes. I got out the Pro Palette and sweeped a matte light orange on the inner part of my eyelids.

Then, with shimmery light orange, I colored in the rest of the eye, but only until the outer corners. With shimmery burnt orange, I filled in the outer corners and extended the color into the wings. I went over the lines again to make them stand out. I finished the look off with mascara and shimmery peachy-orange gloss. :)

Quetzal

Hey, all. Sorry today's post is late once again. Today was probably the worst day of my life. u_u  Luckily, I did something rather creative and elaborate and colorful. :) Doing makeup is like therapy for me. My inspiration for today's look was the brilliantly colored plumage of the quetzal.

This here, is a quetzal. A bird prominently found in Central America (and Guatemala's national bird). It is known for it's colorful feathers, it is the bird representative of the Aztec God, Quetzalcoatl and if you cage this poor little darling, it dies from lack of freedom. (In that case, it should probably be America's national bird. :p)

After I prepped my skin, I drew threw rigdes right next to my eyes with black liquid liner to look like the wings and the looong tail under both eyes. I used the Pro Palette and filled in the inner corners with a bluish medium green. Then, I put shimmery royal blue on the rest of the eye and the outer corners. I put matte red on top of the blue in the outer corners, then.

I filled in the "wings" heavily with the bluish medium green and used a little bit of black on the tips of the "wings". Then, I put shimmery royal blue on the top portion of the tail, bluish medium green on the bottom portion and blended in the middle. I finished with mascara and peachy-orange lip gloss. :)

Pagan Pride Purple Ribbon

Merry Meet, all! In case you did not know yet, I'll probably say it again. I'm a Pagan. :) And I'm Proud! I am Pagan, gonna shout it loud. I am Pagan, want the world to know that I follow the Goddess 'cuz she rocks my soul! xD (That's a song, by the way)
So, today is Pagan Pride Day in the Inland Empire, where I live. :D But, I did not go to the festival, because I felt kind of crappy. (I'm on the "Blood of the Moon" if you know what I mean. ;p Yes, I know. TMI.) But, I celebrated my Pagan Pride today by doing this purple ribbon Pagan Pride look. :) Ready for some magic?

So, after I prepped my skin, I got out the Pro Palette and sweeped a shimmery light purple over the entire lid. Then, I got the shimmery dark plum color and put it in the creases. Then, I put some shimmery eggplant-colored shadow on the outer corners and finished with mascara. (Forgive the eyebrows. I'm still waiting for them to grow sufficiently so that I can wax them right.) Then, with some black liquid liner, I drew a pentagram near my eye on one side...

And the twisted ribbon on the other side. I made a purple aura around them by dabbing the shimmery plum eyeshadow on their edges and dabbed some Manic Panic Glitter Jewels in "Fuschia Shock over the shapes and around my temples. Then, I finished off the whole look with Manic Panic Lipstick in "Plum Passion" (a perfect witchy color! ;D).

And...wow. I look like a stereotypical witch here. Don't worry. :) I don't really use magick because I'm a little too scared of the consequences. Let alone, do I recklessly use it to hex others. :p

Like my pretty pent with the Triple Moon? ;)

Well, that's all there if for today. If any of you in the Inland Empire who are Pagans are reading this (very doubtful), I hope you have a fantastic Pagan Pride Day! Don't be ashamed of who you are!

Blessed Be~ )O(

Mexican Independence Day

Today is Mexico's independence day! (For those of you who thought it was Cinco de Mayo, nice try, but thanks for trying nonetheless. ^_^) Anyways, why is this so important to me, you may wonder? Well, my father is Mexican-American, so by that precept, so am I. :) But, in our family, I'm a seventh-generation American from my grandmother's side. (Not too sure of my grandfather's.) So, I have no ties to Mexico, really. I am only mediocre in speaking Spanish and it doesn't seem like I'm all that accepted in the Chicano community, anyways. :/ But, I stay true to who I am as well as honoring my roots. :) And today, I honor Mexico with tricolor makeup of sweet freedom!

So, after I prepped my skin, I got out the Pro Palette and tapped the matte medium green on the inner corners of my eyelids. Then, I tapped the matte white in the center of both eyelids, next to the green. Then, I tapped the matte red on the outer corners and under the outer part of the lower lash line. To distinguish Mexico's tricolor flag from the Italian one, I drew the brown feathers of an eagle's wings (like the one on the Mexican flag) on the outer corners of my eyes with my brow pencil. I went over the brow pencil with the liquid liner that lost its pigment so that I could define it a little more. I finished with mascara and Rimmel red lipstick. ;)

Deje las alas del águila llevarle a la libertad!
Anyways, normally I would have a picture of myself holding a Mexican flag for this, but alas, I do not have one. :/
Oh well.
Que viva Mexico, bitches! *does the grito*
If you can guess what movie that is a reference to, I'll give you a cookie. ;3

Panther

Today, I will finish the series of eye makeup inspired by big cat coats. ;) I'm sorry I've been lazy with the makeup lately and doing it late at night, but some days you're good and some days you're just plain. :p Anyways, here's a picture of the inspiration:

Note the pretty green eyes. :)

So, after prepping the skin, I spread some matte black shadow over the lids, in the creases and the outer corners from the Pro Palette. Then, I got some nice bright neon green from the same palette to look like the panther's glowing eyes and put it subtly under the lashes. ;) I used some liquid liner to make the cat eye flick only on the outer edge of the eye. (Since there'd really be no point in lining the rest!) I finished the look off with mascara and a peachy-pink gloss from Claire's. :)

Lion

And here we are again, with another big cat! :D I love cats in general. Especially the big, ferocious ones you can find in the wild. ;) So, I decided to do a look incorporating the colors of a lion's coat. Baby lions usually have spots on their coats which allow them to have a camoflauge mechanism in case a predator comes around and they need to hide. But, I decided to go more for the majestic adult lion. ;) (Fun fact: Studies show that the males with darker manes are usually more desired by females.) Ready to unleash your inner lioness?

As soon as I prepped my skin, I spread the matte tan color from the Pro Palette all over my eyelids. Then, I put some shimmery light sandy tan on the inner corners and dabbed matte medium brown on the outer corners. I washed the lids over with shimmery goldenrod and finished the look off with mascara and a bright pink gloss from Claire's. ;)

I need to stop doing these looks at night. The lighting isn't so great. :/ But, the makeup actually looked really nice in person and exuded the colors of a lion's coat. ;)

You can't hide those lion eyes...

Leopard

Today, I decided to continue with the look of big cat coat patterns. The most quintessential and fashionable of these being that of the leopard's. I already did this partly for the ULV school colors eye makeup, but today I decided to extend it to the rest of my eye. (Not a good idea if you don't have a steady eyelid or a steady hand over the creases. >_>) But, I think it turned out okay. :) Ready to earn your spots? (Sorry, but that doesn't sound as cool "earn your stripes". xD)

After prepping my face, I put some shimmery sandy tan cream shadow from the Revlon "Khaki Suede" quad all over my eyelids and up to the brow bone. Then, I went it over with a shimmery sandy tan shadow from the Pro Palette for the background of the leopard's coat. With some e.l.f black liquid liner, I made spots and flicks around the spots all over the lids.

It doesn't look as good on the creases of the eyelid, 'cuz I kept trying to blink. :( But, I think I did a fair enough job on the outer corners of the eyes. I decided to finish off this look with bright red Rimmel London lipstick in "Alarm". It's more fashionista than wild jungle cat, I guess. xD

Rawr for the camera again! (Tho, not really, since leopards aren't as fierce as tigers. xD)

Tiger

Three awesome reasons to do this look today: 1.) Just the other day I wondered what it would be like to be a thundercat. And if I was, I would be Tygra. (Even if he's a boy. xD) 2.) September is Tiger Month to raise awareness of tigers going extinct. :( And 3.) It's my nickname. :) There's a whole long story behind it, but basically my mother called me that because I tend to be...temperamental. :s But, I learned to love the nickname. :) Now, everytime I see something with tiger stripes, I must get it. xD
Ready to earn your stripes?

As I usually do, I prepped my face so that it would look smooth and flawless and so the eyeshadow would stick better. Then, with the Pro Palette, I dabbed two strips of white matte shadow on my eyelids. I made the two slanting strips separate so that I could put the orange in the middle. Just like a tiger's coat. ;) Then, I got plenty of shimmery red-orange on the brush and dabbed it in the middle, allowing it to sometimes go into the white.  I finished the look off by making tiger stripes with e.l.f black liquid liner. All you have to do is make squiggly horizontal stripes that overlap each other on each side. I finished of with a coat of Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara and left it at that. :p

I must say that today, I did quite an exquisite job. :)

Growl for the camera! Rawr! (I don't have claws! D:)

In Memory of 9/11

No matter how you particularly feel about today or what you believe actually happened, you must admit that it was very sad that 3,000 people died. For a while, this tragedy brought us together as a nation as some of us had to grieve the loss of loved. So, I did a look just in honor for today.

I had the concept to do an American flag tear and nothing more. The tear looks like a blob, but hey. Give me an A for effort. :) As soon as I primed my skin, I used Manic Panic's Goth White cream face makeup to creat a base for the colors and for the white. Then, I patted on Manic Panic's pressed shadow in "Voodoo" up to the middle of the tear. I used Manic Panic's "Vampire" to make the red stripes and Manic Panic's "Virgin" to make the stars on the blue field. To make it stand out, I outlined it (very sloppily D:) in e.l.f black liquid eyeliner.

In memory of those we lost on the most unfortunate day of 9/11. </3

Chola

Now, before you say anything about this, complain, feel offended, laugh out loud, whatever else you may do, set your prejudices aside and realize that the makeup that cholas do is just another form of self-expression. :) And...an interesting one, at that. It's a fairly simple look and it suffices quite well for an urban setting. :p So, let's do some makeup!

Cholas tend to pack on the face makeup quite heavily, so I had to pack on a lot of liquid, as well as powder foundation. I drew a thick line around my eyes with e.l.f liquid liner and put on Maybelline Lash Stilletto mascara. I made sure not to get out the clumps, since I noticed that cholas like it thick. The key parts that make this look individual are the eyebrows and lips. I don't have any brow liners dark enough for this look, so I used a dark matte brown shadow from the Pro Palette to line and shape them. (Cholas tend to shape their eyebrows beyond their natural bounds.) I finished the look by using my soft brown lipliner to line my lips and slathered on Rimmel Sweet Jelly lipgloss in "Gourmet" on top of it. (Make sure it's extra shiny!)

Cholas like doing the "scrunch" look with their hair, so after I washed it, I grabbed handfuls of hair and crunched them up to make waves. I sprayed plenty of hairspray on to help them keep their shape and to have that wet hair look that they like. And of course, don't forget the large hoop earrings. ;)

"Lean like a chola way up high, thick eyeliner in my eye..."

I'm sorry, but this look is honestly too bold for me to go out in it. >_O I enjoyed experimenting with it, tho. :)
